The Moose is a fraternal and service organization founded in 1888 with nearly 1,000,000 members in roughly 1,600 Lodges in 49 states and four Canadian provinces, plus Great Britain. Along with other units of Moose International, the Loyal Order of Moose supports the operation of Mooseheart Child City & School, a 1,000-acre community for children and teens in need, located 40 miles west of Chicago; and Moosehaven, a 70-acre retirement community for its members near Jacksonville, FL. Additionally, members of the Moose conduct approximately $70 million worth of community service (counting monetary donations and volunteer hours worked) annually. The Loyal Order of Moose organizes and participates in numerous sports and recreational programs, in local Lodges and Family Centers in the majority of 44 State and Provincial Associations, and on a fraternity-wide basis.  Lodges across the Fraternity are known for creating life-long bonds between members through activities and a shared concern for children in need, seniors and the communities in which they live.

Rotary Fest Success
On behalf of the Board of Officers, I would like to thank everyone for supporting the Moose Lodge during Rotary Fest and for the scores of volunteers who generously donated their time, money and sundries to make the event a huge success.

Thank you to the Rod & Gun Club members who lent us their tent and for helping set up and take down the tent. Thank you to the Moose Riders who staffed all the Friday shifts. Thanks to all the other individuals who staffed long and hot shifts. Thanks to HindSight for donating their musical talent. Finally, thanks to the WOTM for their help selling raffle tickets and marketing the Moose Lodge.

Our collective efforts culminated in concession stand profits of $2,025 and tips of $323! The tips will be donated to Mooseheart & Moosehaven and the Board of Officers voted on and approved a measure to allocate the profits to pay for the final air conditioning installment payment.

Rotary Fest –

I’d like to thank all those who donated money, items and their time during the Rotary Fest.  The WOTM put together and raffled two baskets.  The kids basket was won by Alberto Torres and the adult basket was won by Heather Spry.  We had a successful drive, met some new folks and signed up a couple of new members.

Christmas in October –

For the past couple of years, the WOTM have set up a Christmas tree in the social quarters in September and collected kids mittens, gloves, scarfs, hats etc. for the kids in Downers Grove that might not have something warm for their hands or head.  In spite of COVID, last year we were able to collect some nice things and delivered them to the DG School District who were very appreciative and promised to pass them around to the kids in need.  When you see the Christmas tree up in the Lodge, please feel free to hang something on the tree.  We’ll leave it up for a few weeks.

Thank you.
